Bonjour,

We are Daniël and Daniëlle Bakker. Living in France has been our dream for years. When our daughters left home to study, we thought: why not? Now is the time to make our dream come true!

We didn't have to think long about where. Over the years, we have been on holiday in many parts of France, but we always return to the Charente-Maritime. This region just suits us. It feels like coming home. It is a very lively region where you can also experience the peace and spaciousness of the countryside.

So, we quickly decided on the 'where'. Now we only had to find the perfect property. In 2021, our search started online. A year later, we went to look around in France. Various houses, or perhaps we should call them projects, passed by until this property came along in the spring of 2023. It felt right. There was still a lot to do, but it met our wishes. In October 2023, the time had come…the key was handed over to us, so finally we could start making plans. One of the first things of course was to come up with a name. We decided on ‘Domaine le Roseau’. A tribute to my (Daniëlle’s) deceased mother Riet.

At the moment we are busy creating 4 gîtes. We will open during the May holiday of 2025 with 2 gîtes: Talmont and Saint Palais. After that we will finish gîte Meschers which can be booked from July 2025. Last but not least, we will finish gîte Mornac. Hopefully this will also be ready in 2025, but otherwise certainly in 2026.

There is a lot to see and do in the area and after a day out you can relax by our swimming pool or play a game of table tennis, pool or jeu de boules.

We also offer table d’hôtes a couple of times a week. Enjoy a homemade pizza from our own pizza oven, a delicious barbecue or a cozy meal (suitable for young and old).
